Cay Cake

Category:

“Bánh Cáy” is closely associated with the geographical location of the Rice Village in Thai Binh, considered as a signature gift for every visitor. Nguyễn Village, the place of origin of this specialty, is located in Đông Hưng district (Thai Binh province), where the intersection of National Highway 10 between Quảng Ninh and Ninh Bình and the Thai Binh – Hưng Yên axis converge. It is made from glutinous rice, lard, peanuts, orange peel, and other familiar ingredients commonly used in the daily meals of the local people. The process of creating these cakes, which are simultaneously rich, fragrant, and slightly spicy, requires meticulous and elaborate techniques, often lasting 15-20 days, following unique recipes.
